Mets Make Some Roster Moves

Would you like a little break from the election?

Well, here it is.

The Mets made a few additions to their roster today.

And by a few? I mean 11. All the players signed today were given minor league deals. Without further ado, those players are…

-C Bruce Maxwell
-C David Rodríguez
-OF Mallex Smith
-OF Johneshwy Fargas
-INF Jake Hager
-INF José Peraza
-INF Luis Carpio
-INF Mitchell Tolman
-RHP Arodys Vizcaíno
-RHP Harol González
-RHP Oscar De La Cruz

Nothing wrong with some organizational depth.

Few familiar names here. José Peraza we know as the light hitting shortstop with a terrific glove. Vizcaino was the closer for the Braves for a few years. Mallex Smith is a speedy outfielder who Brodie would have definitely traded away a pitcher for.

Carpio has been in the Mets system since 2013. Harol Gonzalez has been around since 2014. Fargas and Hager were signed to  minor league deals by the Mets last year. And of course, Bruce Maxwell, who is best known for kneeling for the national anthem and pulling a gun on a delivery driver.

I got my eyes on Oscar De La Cruz. He’s a 25 year old pitcher and I’m very surprised the Cubs didn’t try and retain him in their organization.

Everyone besides Carpio and Tolman have been invited to big league training camp.

Hey, you never know.
