Hey. I don’t know if you heard, but Steve Cohen is the new owner of the New York Mets.
I’m going to take my time with my reaction to that one, as I feel like it’s easily a top ten Mets’ moment in my lifetime.
In the meantime, let’s talk about some roster moves that went down after he officially took the reins from the Wilpons.
About two hours after Cohen received the 26 necessary votes from the other owners, the Mets signed Jacob Barnes, a right handed reliever off waivers from the Angels.
Shortly after that, the Mets snatched up Nick Tropeano from the Pirates, who was also a waiver claim. Tropeano, a New York native, attended Stony Brook College, as did Daniel Zamora.
I truly believe we are just getting started here.
The Rays did not exercise their option on Charlie Morton today. The Indians placed Brad Hand on outright waivers.
You have to think a lot of owners will be hesitant to spend money after a Covid-19 shortened 2020 season.
There’s one owner who wasn’t effected by the 2020 season.
His name is Steve Cohen.
