Lot of moving and shaking going on.
Let’s tackle the biggest story first. Brandon Nimmo is headed to the Injured List. He was originally in yesterday’s lineup but was scratched with a stiff neck. He later appeared as a pinch hitter.
You may be wondering why Nimmo was scratched from the lineup then inserted into the game and then placed on the Injured List the following day. Well, if you are wondering why the Mets did that, you probably wonder why they do most of the other things they do.
The outfield gets a little thinner as Michael Conforto is also on the Injured List dealing with a concussion. Rajai Davis has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse.
Furthermore, Jeff McNeil is out of tonight’s lineup as he is dealing with a sore hamstring. At this time I think we should all pray because we can absolutely not have McNeil absent from this lineup.
I think Nimmo should be given ample time to heal properly. Nimmo was hitting .241/.388/.463 when he first missed time with a stiff neck. Let Nimmo get right. In the meantime someone needs to step up. Gomez. Davis, (Rajai or JD) Lagares. Somebody. Also, some quick recovery times for Conforto and McNeil would be great.
Speaking of JD Davis. He got a taste of the outfield last night after his pinch hit three run homerun gave the Mets the lead. His bat looks like it could be enough of a weapon where we are going to have to play him and hope the defense doesn’t kill us.
And the final roster move.
Paul Sewald has been designated for assignment.
Thank you, Brodie. Thank you.
