Avilan Down, Flexen Up

The hits just keep on coming.

And I mean that literally.

Only three of the Mets’ seven Opening Day relievers are in the bullpen right now: Edwin Diaz, Seth Lugo and Robert Gsellman.

Luis Avilan joins Justin Wilson and Jeurys Familia on the Injured List, as he is experiencing soreness in his left elbow.

Avilan was a minor league signing this offseason, who earned a spot on the opening day roster with a terrific spring. Once the regular season began, Avilan was awful, posting a 9.90 ERA.

In his defense, Mickey Callaway started to use him as a multi inning reliever for some reason, to disastrous results. His career statistics will tell you he is not at all effective when used for multiple innings, but Mickey gon’ Mickey.

Chris Flexen returns to the Mets with his 8.59 ERA.

Say a prayer.
