The Mets have acquired right handed pitcher Jordan Yamamoto in a trade with the Miami Marlins.
In exchange, Miami will receive infielder Federico Polanco.
The fish designated Yamamoto for assignment last week.
Yamamoto, you may remember, came to Miami from Milwaukee in the Christian Yelich deal.
He had a somewhat promising 2019 season which ultimately ended with a forearm strain. His 2020 was a disaster, surrendering 23 earned runs in just 11 innings. He also gave up 8 home runs. Yikes.
He doesn’t throw hard and has control problems. Yamamoto does strike out a good deal of hitters and has impressive spin rates on his fastball and curve.
Some good old pitching depth.
The Mets designated Robel Garcia for assignment to make room for Yamamoto.
