Jacob deGrom left tonight’s intrasquad game at Citi Field after just one inning of work.
Speculations ran rampant for an hour or so.
Eventually, it was revealed that deGrom left due to back tightness.
Obviously, that’s not what anyone wants to hear.
No further word on the severity of the back tightness, or whether it will prevent him from taking the mound on Opening Day. (Important to note: deGrom missed his Opening Day start in 2018 because of back tightness.)
Let’s remain calm. Or at least let’s try and remain calm.
Let’s hope that the Mets are just being cautious with the best pitcher in baseball. No sense pushing him in a scrimmage game, right?
More on this as soon as we hear anything.
