After last night, there are a lot of Mets fans who don’t want to see Jeurys Familia for a while.
They’ll get their wish for at least ten days.
Jeurys Familia is headed to the ten-day Injured List. His spot on the roster will be replaced by pitcher Ryan O’Rourke.
Familia felt some discomfort in his right shoulder and informed the Mets this morning, according to Mickey Callaway. He underwent an MRI on his shoulder, which revealed a Bennett lesion, (essentially a bone spur) and received an injection.
There is no timetable for his return.
Met fans were looking forward to the 8th and 9th inning combination of Jeurys Familia and Edwin Diaz.
Diaz has been great. Familia has not. In 14 appearances this season, Familia has a 6.28 ERA with 15 strikeouts over 14 1/3 innings.
All we can do now is hope this discomfort is the reason for his poor performance, and hope he returns quickly.
Say a prayer.
