The Mets have signed a former Washington National!
No, it’s not Bryce Harper.
The Mets have signed Danny Espinosa to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.
Espinosa was not in the majors last year, plying his trade for the Acereros de Monclova of the Mexican League.
The Mets and Nationals love shuffling players back and forth huh? Jerry Blevins, Matt Reynolds, Matt den Dekker and José Lobaton to name a few.
Nothing earth shattering here. Just some more infield depth it would appear. I’m still really waiting for some depth in the starting pitching department, but this move can’t hurt. He can’t hit but is a terrific defender, and can handle shortstop well.
Espinosa had a few decent years with Washington, then attempted to catch on with Toronto and Tampa Bay before relocating to Mexico.
Hey, maybe they signed Espinosa to lure Bryce Harper!
