Atlanta Braves Sign Josh Donaldson to One Year Deal

Welcome to the National League East, Josh Donaldson.

Third baseman, Josh Donaldson will be doing a lot of hitting in Citi Field this upcoming season. He just won’t be wearing a Mets jersey.

The Atlanta Braves signed the right handed slugger to a one year deal, worth 23 million dollars. This will reunite Donaldson with Alex Anthopolous, the executive who brought the third baseman to Toronto in 2014.

Great move by Atlanta. There isn’t a team in the league who shouldn’t be in on a player like Josh Donaldson. And on a one year deal to boot!

The Braves, who just won the National League East, added a huge right handed bat to their lineup. The Mets responded by adding minor league outfielder, Jordan Patterson to their lineup after the Rockies released him.

After the Mets stated publicly that they would not be pursuing Manny Machado, the hope was that they would still add a right handed power bat to their lineup. This signing all but killed that dream.

Recently, we talked about what we can hang our hats on as Met fans going forward. It was all starting pitching and left handed bats. This is a guy who would have fit in perfectly between Nimmo, Conforto and McNeil. Josh Donaldson has been a seven win player, four years in a row! A one year deal?! This is downright negligent by the Mets.

Sure, Donaldson has battled injury these last two seasons. But a one year deal? This is a player who is hungry to nab a huge payday. This is exactly the type of risk you take.

The Mets recently released their 2019 Promotional Calendar. See you all at Todd Frazier Bobblehead Night! We will have the same exact lineup on the field as we did in 2018!
